DIY Organic Beauty Products (great gift ideas – or treat yourself!)

This post really has NOTHING to do with food, but doesn’t that look good enough to EAT??? It’s actually one of the “recipes” from Mommypotamus’ new book called DIY Organic Beauty. This is just perfect timing for Christmas gift-giving! Most of these recipes can be made for $5. What a great way to treat yourself – or others!

Included in the book are recipes for things like:

Cinnamon & Vanilla Winter Scrub

Sweet Orange & Honey Shampoo

Peppermint Face & Body Wash

and even…

Homemade Bronzer

Heather’s book looks amazing. Included are over 50 great recipes plus more!

*You’ll Learn How To. . .

  • Make your own shampoo, conditioners, lotions and deodorant
  • Whiten your teeth naturally without harsh chemicals like coal tar, fluoride, aspartame, aluminum and benzene
  • Nourish yourself from the inside out for radiant skin, hair and nails
  • Use natural preservatives, make sure your skin and hair remain PH balanced, and formulate products that are safe for small children

I am so excited to try some of these recipes!  It is becoming more and more important to me to move towards using natural body and cosmetic items. The skin is our largest organ and it ABSORBS so much. I’ve heard it said that a good rule of thumb is to not put anything on your skin that you wouldn’t put in your mouth. Yikes!
One question I had right off the bat when I saw this was “Shoot! There are so many other recipes out there that are FREE on the internet. What makes this book better”? Well, Heather has an answer for that one:
There are some great recipes out there that work really well . . . and some that don’t! Unfortunately it’s impossible to know which it will be ahead of time and it’s always a bummer to have to throw out failed attempts made with fantastic ingredients. Each recipe in this book has been tested over and over to ensure good results.

Also, I’ve worked hard to formulate products that will allow you to keep your refrigerator free from the clutter of ultra-perishable beauty products. Though these recipes are not infused with toxic preservatives that will make them last for years on end like those three year-old fast food burgers we’ve seen, most will stay fresh for months at a time. Not only does this cut down on time spent preparing each item since you don’t have to make small batches every week, it also saves you money and cuts down on waste.

Makes sense to me!!

Eric – this is not a line of products. This is a DIY book about how to make your own organic beauty products from another blogger.
