This past year, I was able to try something I had never tried before…
Aquatic Greens. Yes, algae.
Specifically Chlorella and Spirulina.
I had heard that these algae were spectacularly healthy for us, but I never took the plunge (pun intended), to give them a try.
Also over this past year, I came to learn of a great company called Perfect Supplements. The mission of their company is to “Promote Optimum Health for Our Planet and all Living Beings”. That’s surely something I can get behind! If you are looking for Fish Oils or Grassfed Gelatin, they have top-notch options for those, too.
So, as part of our January larger challenge to “Eat More Greens“, this topic (and giveway) fits right in! First, let’s take a closer look at these 2 algae.
What is Chlorella?
It is a freshwater algae. It contains a high percentage of protein as well as beta carotene, iron, Vitamins B and C, and antioxidants (in addition to many other things). It’s green color is because of it’s high chlorophyll concentration.
The benefits of chlorella include detoxifying heavy metals, lowering cholesterol, lowering blood sugar, supporting the immune system and even preventing cancer. You can read more HERE.
What is Spirulina?
This is a blue-green algae that is also high in protein, as well as vitamins and minerals such as Vit. E, B complex vitamins, manganese, copper, zine, selenium, iron, beta carotene and the essential fatty acid gamma linolenic acid.
Studies show that spirulina can help boost the immune system and provide anti-cancer and anti-viral properties, among other things. You can read more HERE.
Perfect Supplements is giving away a powdered version of their Aquatic Greens to one of YOU! It also comes in capsules, but I like to use the powder version in my smoothies – just a small scoop is a serving. If you hop on over to the Aquatic Greens page on their site, you’ll be able to read all of the details about this amazing product.
