Real Food in the Real World: My Story (guest post at Unmistakably Food!)

About Me: I am married with 4 kids – 3 boys, and 1 girl (ages 9, 8, 6 and 2.5 – we recently adopted our oldest). We live in West Michigan. I am also an RN and my hubby is a pastor. I enjoy eating, cooking, sharing info about Real Food with others, handing out at the local coffee shop, reading, playing the piano and dreaming about having a small farm some day! I also co-run our local Buyer’s Club and am on the board of our local chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation.
1. Tell us about your passion for real food. Why do you eat the way you eat? We previously lived in Washington state for 6 years and that is where I was introduced to the nutrition information from the Weston A. Price foundation, through a friend. We also had noticed some food-related health challenges with our kids and made the gradual switch to “real food” – meaning no processed food, only natural sweeteners like honey, sucanat and coconut sugar, and only the “good” oils. After making this switch I noticed easy weight loss for myself, less sickness and more energy for all of us!
2. What, in your opinion, are the top five “healthiest foods” that you include regularly in your diet?……
