It’s the most wonderful time of the year! I love giving gifts, don’t you? If you are looking for ideas for yourself or for a Real Food Eater on your Christmas list, have I got the list for you!
I polled some of my readers and here are some of my favorite items (and theirs) and the Top 10 Christmas Gifts for all of those Real Food Eaters out there!
My favorite brand is Cuisinart…I have the 11-cup one from about 8 years ago, and this 12-cup version is the one I would buy next (but since mine is still going strong so I have no excuse). It’s great for chopping up large quantities of veggies (and anything else you want to chop) and it comes with discs for slicing, shredding, chopping and even a dough blade. We use ours for making pizza dough, shredding cheese for recipes like Cheesy Vegetable Chowder and for making Homemade Hummus.
Everyone needs a small version of this…for those small jobs like chopping onion or garlic or making small batches of things. I have one and love it. I use it often.
These are both great for fermenting veggies, like Homemade Sauerkraut. If you like to do BIG batches, go with a fermenting crock…otherwise the fermenting lids are perfect for smaller batches in mason jars!
A few of my favorites are Nourishing Ways, Real Food: What to Eat and Why and I’m currently reading Gut & Psychology Syndrome (more about this in future posts). Click on “Real Food Books” above to be taken to a list of some of my favorites. These are great places to start if you need a primer on Real Foods and why you should be eating them.
One size doesn’t fit all so my link above takes you to a whole smattering of crockpots. Personally, I have a large one and it’s PERFECT for cooking a whole chicken and making Homemade Chicken Broth.
This is a handy kitchen tool to help blend things up right in the pan or pot! I use it all the time when I’m making Tomato Soup. It makes blending and pureeing things super simple with no need to get out a big, huge, clunky blender!
8. Yogurt Maker
To avoid nasty ingredients in some store-bought yogurts AND to save money (or make from raw milk), this yogurt maker is amazing. I have this one…and it’s great because they are in cute little containers. All you have to do to throw them in lunches is add a little honey and/or fruit and go!
Great for grating cheese and zesting citrus.
10. Good Knives
Every chef and real food eater needs a good chef knife or two. I have this one from Wusthof and it’s my favorite! It makes cooking and chopping so much more fun.

#11. A Food Dehydrator
Every kitchen needs a good dehydrator. I use it to make crispy nuts, Homemade Soaked Granola, dried tomatoes, and dried bananas. Really, you can dehydrate SO many things. I have THIS ONE which has been a good, basic dehydrator. But, I really wish I had the Excalibur Dehydrator shown here:
How about you? What is your
